Herschend Family Entertainment Corporation takes over Harlem Globetrotters International

Herschend Family Entertainment Corporation (HFE) operates a total of 26 theme parks and leisure attractions in the USA including Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee and Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri. Now HFE is also the new owner of Harlem Globetrotters International (HGI). The family-run company announced at the beginning of October that it had purchased the famous exhibition basketball team from its previous owners, Shamrock Capital Advisors. Harlem Globetrotters International is now a 100% subsidiary of the Herschend Family Entertainment Corporation. While no details have been revealed about the takeover, HFE has announced that the current HGI management team and its staff will remain unchanged. HGI’s staff consists of more than 90 people including employees, players and trainers. The Harlem Globetrotters have more than 400 live events each year bringing basketball fun to more than three million fans in over 30 countries. (eap)
