Indiana Beach Boardwalk Resort Announces Giant Wheel Renovation
Indiana Beach Boardwalk Resort, which was purchased by Apex Parks Group in September 2015 (cf. EAP News from September 10, 2015), has recently begun a major renovation project on its “Giant Gondola Wheel”. In preparation for the park’s 90th anniversary in 2016, the wheel will be dismantled this month and sent to the ride’s manufacturer, Chance Rides headquartered in Wichita, Kansas. The refurbishment is expected to take four months. It is the first time the Giant Wheel has undergone a complete updating since it was erected on Indiana Beach boardwalk in 1989. The 90-feet (27 meters) tall wheel has 20 gondolas, providing space for up to 120 riders at one time. “The Giant Wheel refurbishment is just one project of many that will be completed before next season. This off-season promises to be an exciting and busy one under the new ownership of Apex Parks Group. Watch for additional announcements in the near future as we prepare for the upcoming 2016 season,” John Collins, General Manager of Indiana Beach, says. (eap)
