Japan: “Fantasy Springs” Themed Port at Tokyo DisneySea Project Update
The opening of the “Fantasy Springs” themed port currently under construction as part of a large-scale expansion project at the Tokyo DisneySea theme park in Japan will be postponed until spring 2024, as has now been announced by the Tokyo Disney Resort®. In addition, the investment costs for the project will increase to approx. 320 billion Japanese yen (about 2.18 billion euros). This is due to delays of productions overseas as well as restrictions placed on logistics and border measures related to the Covid-19 pandemic. In addition, the names of the three areas being built in the themed port and that of the new Disney hotel, which will add an overnight offering to Fantasy Springs, have now been revealed.
Thus, the area around Disney’s “Frozen” IP will be called “Frozen Kingdom” and include one attraction and one restaurant. While guests can visit the “Kingdom of Arendelle” here, their gaze will fall on “Queen Elsa’s” ice palace on North Mountain in the distance. In the new “Rapunzel’s Forest” area, the world of the Disney animation film “Tangled” comes to life. Rapunzel’s tower rises against a mountain backdrop, whose lights will bathe the entire forest in a warm light at night. Guests will also find an attraction and a restaurant here. The third area will be called “Peter Pan’s Never Land”, where guests will be able to explore a pirate ship and experience other great adventures in Never Land, among other things. Guests will also be able to pay a visit to the fairy valley where the little fairy “Tinker Bell” lives. This area will feature two attractions as well as a restaurant. The all-new “Tokyo DisneySea Fantasy Springs Hotel” will be the sixth Disney hotel in Japan, equipped with a total of 475 rooms, including 419 “deluxe-type” rooms and 56 “luxury-type” rooms.

By the way: Disney’s Blizzard Beach water park in Orlando/Florida, which reopens on November 13, will also feature some Frozen-themed elements in the future, too. Guests will be able to find them in the “Tike’s Peak” kids area. (eap)
