King Dragon for New Waterpark in East of Beijing / China
Dragons play an important role in the Chinese culture ever since. For Asian people they are a symbol of power and fortune. It is no wonder, then, that a major attraction of the new indoor waterpark, which is currently under construction as part of the Great Mall of China (GMOC) project, will have a dragon theming. The waterpark will cover an area of 23,000 square meters and feature a large number of water slides. One of the major attractions will be a “King Cobra” waterslide from Polin, which will of course be a “King Dragon” at GMOC. Other water attractions planned to be installed there are a Space Shuttle slide, an Uphill Navigatour water coaster and a Blackhole tube slide as well as several Speed, Extreme and Racing slides and a water play structure, all supplied by Polin. The whole mall complex – built within the next five years – will cover 5.6 million square meters and feature two theme parks, the waterpark as well as shopping, entertainment and business facilities. The first construction phase, which has already started and is planned to be finished by October 2013, will include the two theme parks and the waterpark. (eap)
