Liechtenstein: Patrick Spieldiener Honoured with “Entrepreneur of the Year” Award
Patrick Spieldiener (pictured) – owner and CEO of Liechtenstein-based Intamin Amusement Rides in the second generation – was honoured this month with the prestigious “Entrepreneur of the Year” award, which was presented in Liechtenstein for the sixth time in total by the auditing and consulting firm EY in cooperation with the state’s government. An independent jury consisting of personalities from the regional economy was impressed by Spieldiener’s entrepreneurial success: “Intamin is a real hidden champion. One that is hardly known. But one that became a world market leader through great innovative power and precise engineering – made in Liechtenstein,” said jury member Mirjam Hummel-Ortner in her laudatory speech. Since the company’s establishment in 1967, the Intamin group of companies has grown continuously and is today considered as one of the world’s leading manufacturers of roller coasters, rides and transport systems.
One of Intamin’s latest innovative developments is the adaptation of its LSM launch system for vertical ascents, as already realized on the “Storm Coaster” in the Dubai Hills Mall, which opened this spring and was recognized as the world’s fastest vertical-launch roller coaster by Guinness World Records, and which is now also available for new roller coaster installations.
