Lyon / France: Musée Miniature et Cinéma Opens Expanded Special Effect Exhibition

Dan Ohlmann, carpenter and interior designer always devoted to miniatures and special effects, founded the “Palais de la miniature” in Lyon in 1990, today known as “Musée Miniature et Cinéma” located in the old town of Lyon. The museum focuses on miniature settings and objects as well as on the art and techniques of films and cinema. Since mid-April, visitors can experience the new expansion of the museum’s exhibition area dedicated to the topic of special effect technologies used in films and cinema. The 1,000 square meter large exhibition invites the visitor to look behind the scenes and to discover different cinematographic techniques like Blue Screen or 3-D. Original props like costumes, animatronics, models, robots, masks, etc. from famous movies like “Gremlins 2”, “Batman” or “Men in Black” create a really authentic visitor experience. (eap)
