Mexico/Netherlands: Jora Vision Reveals Details On Amikoo Park’s “Los Piratas de Bacalar“ Walk Through Attraction
The Amikoo Resort Destination Theme Park (Amikoo Park) is a USD 840 million project currently under development at Mexico’s Riviera Maya coast, which in its entire theming will be dedicated to the Mayan high culture. The new leisure destination is set to open its doors in 2019/2020, featuring four theme areas with a total of 40 attractions, restaurants and shows (cf. EAP, 1/18).
A site of some 5,000 square meters in the retail, dining & entertainment district of Amikoo park will be home to a giant indoor themed attraction as a “stand alone” offering: under the title “Los Piratas de Bacalar” the building will resemble the Fuerte de San Felipe fortress erected in Bacalar by the Spanish Army in the 18th century. Dutch Jora Vision design company has been engaged with the design of this multi-million-Dollar attraction, which will offer visitors a 50-minute walk through experience, a themed restaurant and a merchandise shop.
The attraction will feature a total of eight pre-show productions, in which historical encounters with pirates come alive: Guests await live actors, animatronics, special effects and even a ride as highlight attraction, which will be a 60-seater Immersive Tunnel developed by British Simworx company, designed as a ship and featuring state-of-the-art projection technology.
Visitors will be guided in groups of max. 60 persons through the different sections of “Los Piratas de Bacalar”. It is set to open in 2019 and will be excluded from the park entry, to be paid separately. (eap)
