(eap) Theme park development company Momentum Leisure and creative agency Leisure Expert Group – both headquartered in Amsterdam (NL) – have announced their long-term partnership for the design of multiple theme parks in Romania and Poland. “This partnership with Leisure Expert Group gives us the opportunity to leverage a great synergy of global expertise and local insights to deliver parks that entertain guests and also suit the needs of the local market,” comments Wouter Dekkers, CEO of Momentum Leisure. The company, which belongs to Momentum Capital, has already developed the Majaland theme parks in Kownaty and Warsaw in Poland, which opened in 2018 and 2022 respectively. The new Majaland Gdańsk on the Baltic coast also recently went into operation, where popular characters such as “The Smurfs” (Peyo) and others from the Nickelodeon story universe (Paramount) can be found for the first time alongside the popular IP characters from Studio 100 (read also the cover story of our latest EAP magazine issue: Smurfs Power in Majaland Gdańsk).

Marjolein van de Stolpe, Chief Experience Officer at Leisure Expert Group, says, “It’s exciting to use our expertise in family entertainment in a new market, especially with IPs from my childhood memories, such as The Smurfs…”. The future of entertainment parks in Eastern Europe could be bright. Dekkers is convinced, “Our combined mission is to develop leisure parks that will entertain both locals as well as tourists. With a close collaboration between Momentum Leisure and the Leisure Expert Group, the future of entertainment parks in Romania and Poland promises to be exciting.”
