New Efteling Attraction “Danse Macabre” Opens
(eap) Just in time for Halloween, Efteling’s new spooky attraction “Danse Macabre” opens its doors to all park visitors today. Embedded in a new 17,000 square meter spooky and beautiful themed area with restaurants, a store and suitable entertainment, Danse Macabre invites visitors to a special “dance”. The new ride system from Intamin promises thrills and surprises for visitors from the age of eight with a minimum height of 120 cm. A total of 108 guests can sit on the six choir benches per ride. These are mounted on a large turntable that rises, tilts, falls and rotates like a coin. The expected capacity is 1,253 people per hour.
“Danse Macabre is unique in the industry. Nowhere else in the world can you experience this ride system. By combining it with a gruesome show experience, Efteling guests can experience a spooky atmosphere like never before. Naturally in Efteling style, which puts the history of the entire theme area centre stage. Around 500 colleagues have worked hard for months to build this extraordinary attraction and I am very proud of the end result,” explains Koen Sanders, Director of Product, Marketing & Image.
“This is the first time that we have realised a completely new themed area in a train at Efteling, which includes a main attraction as well as catering and a shop. The entire themed area was designed with great respect for and inspired by the iconic Spookslot building. I am proud that my drawings have been brought to life so beautifully by all the professionals involved. Efteling guests – those who dare, of course – will be completely immersed in this spooky world at Danse Macabre,” says Chief Designer, Jeroen Verheij.
