New Flume Ride for Thomas Land at Drayton Manor
Drayton Manor theme park, located in the English Midlands, will open a new flume ride attraction for visitors next Saturday. “Thomas & Percy’s Submarine Splash” is the name of the new water attraction, which is set in the “Thomas Land” themed area, which in turn celebrates its 15th anniversary this year. Since opening in 2008 in cooperation with the US media company Mattel, the theme area, which is extremely popular with families, has attracted more than ten million visitors. Since the 2012 acquisition of HIT Entertainment by U.S. media company Mattel, the Thomas & Friends IP aimed at preschoolers has been part of Mattel’s brand portfolio.
“We are thrilled to be able to expand upon the more than 25 rides and attractions at Thomas Land and offer new experiences for families to enjoy together,” said Julie Freeland, Sr. Director at Mattel. “With the addition of Thomas & Percy’s Submarine Splash, Thomas fans will be able to partake in even more immersive adventures with their favorite Thomas & Friends characters whether by land, air or sea.” Victoria Lynn, General Manager at Drayton Manor Resort, adds, “Thomas & Percy’s Submarine Splash ride will provide the opportunity for families to experience a thrilling flume together, featuring two mini drops on an exciting journey through the Island of Sodor. Guests are sure to feel part of the Thomas & Friends team while working together to help transport the submarine to its final destination.”
To extend the Thomas & Friends™ experience, guests can stay overnight in one of the resort’s exclusive Thomas & Friends themed rooms at the park’s onsite four-star hotel. Following the opening of two new themed areas in the park within the last two years (“Adventure Cove” and “Vikings”), the new attraction represents the continuation of an ambitious investment program in Drayton Manor Resort, part of the French Looping Group.
