(eap) A new LEGO® Discovery Center (LDC) is now open in Washington, D.C. at the Virginia Springfield Town Center. It is one of three new LEGO Discovery Centers in the U.S. that operator group Merlin Entertainments is calling “next-generation” centers (see our EAP news of Aug. 8, 2022). In the new facility, the youngest LEGO fans can play in the “DUPLO® Park”, while the older ones can get their money’s worth in the “Building Adventure” or “Mini World” areas – the latter one is an area full of LEGO structures consisting of more than 1.5 million bricks.

In addition to the opportunities to marvel at LEGO structures and get creative with building themselves, the LEGO Discoverey Center features the “Imagination Express”, a train that takes visitors through an oversized LEGO world. Along the route, there are play points to collect and moving LEGO models to view. In addition, adventurers can look forward to “Hero Zone”, where LEGO City meets LEGO NINJAGO®. Here, there is a LEGO laser maze, a climbing wall and a crazy action game to discover. Those who prefer a quieter experience can watch a LEGO movie in the “4D Cinema” or enjoy a snack break in the LEGO Cafe. The new indoor park features twelve different areas in total.

“The entire LEGO Discovery Center Washington, D.C. team could not be more thrilled to be opening our doors and finally welcoming families to experience this interactive world of LEGO® fun. Children will be able to let their imagination run wild and flex their creativity in each of our unique zones. The new attraction is a must-visit for families with children ages two through ten,” comments General Manager Therese Alvich.

From today until August 13, the “First to Play Days” will take place, during which the first families can test the new LEGO Discovery Center. From August 14, it will then be fully open to the public. ■
