New Themed Area & Easter Event Days at Kennywood
(eap) The US amusement park Kennywood near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, which is operated by Palace Entertainment, has unveiled some new features for this year’s season. These include the new “Kennywood Junction” themed area, which will feature five redesigned rides, a new gift shop as well as a new room for parties and celebrations. In addition, there will be a new Easter event, called “Eggcellent Easter Celebration”, that will take place for the first time from 12 through 27 April.
The new Kennywood Junction themed area will be modelled as a small steel town as an homage to Pittsburgh. Its line-up of overhauled attractions include the historic “Olde Kennywood Railroad”, the family-friendly “Kenny’s Cargo Drop” free-fall tower and the “Parker’s Cloud Cruisers”, “Fire Bustin’ Brigade” and “Coal Haulin Convoy’” rides, which are particularly suitable for young park visitors. New features include the matching souvenir shop “Junction Gift Shop” and a party room where birthdays, graduations, family reunions and other events can be celebrated. As part of the new Eggcellent Easter Celebration, guests will have the opportunity to meet the park’s newest costume character, “Tuft, the Kennywood Easter Bunny”, to search for eggs in an Easter egg scavenger hunt and to enjoy spring-themed food and drinks.
“Kennywood and Pittsburgh are synonymous and our new family-friendly area, Kennywood Junction, pays tribute to just that, our park and its historic love for the Steel City,” says Kennywood’s General Manager Ricky Spicuzza. “Beginning on 412 Day, the young and young at heart will be able to enjoy this all-new area and our first-ever Eggcellent Easter Celebration, offering even more reasons to visit the park egg-stra early this year.” ■
