Norway: Climbing Fun at Nygårdsparken
Bergen, located on the southwest coast of Norway, is the country’s second-largest city. Dubbed “gateway to the Fjords“, the historic Hanseatic city with its sights and mountains in the near vicinity offers the vibe of a modern small town against an impressive natural backdrop. “Nygårdsparken“ is the name of Bergen’s green lung, a public park in the center of the city. For a few years now, work has been underway to renovate the park and its appearance, as it had become a meeting place for drug addicts in the past and is now to be completely renovated to attract visitors again.
As part of this investment measure, a new climbing structure was built in the park this summer, catered to children of all ages. A total of 13 different climbing towers, which are connected to each other via net tunnels, form a coherent, 60-meter-long structure, which winds its way up a tree-covered slope. The color scheme of the climbing structure is based on the natural environment. In the lower area of the attraction, additional features such as rubber membranes at different heights, a nest swing and a wobble bridge provide some extra play fun. The new climbing landscape was planned an implemented by Berliner Seilfabrik in cooperation with its exclusive partner Uniqa. When climbing through the net tunnels, enjoying a great view over the roofs of the city of Bergen, one overcomes a total of twelve meters in height. (eap)
