Now Open: “World of Jumanji” at Chessington World of Adventures
(eap) Monday saw the opening of the all-new World of Jumanji themed area at British theme park Chessington World of Adventures. The highlight of the area is the world’s first coaster with a “Jumanji” theme. “Mandrill Mayhem” is the name of the new wing coaster, which was supplied by roller coaster manufacturer Bolliger & Mabillard (B&M). Using a virtual queue management system, guests must reserve their ride on Mandrill Mayhem in advance. Time slots can be booked on the park’s “Reserve & Ride” page.
In addition to the roller coaster two other rides await guests in the new area: “Ostrich Stampede”, a Super Jumper from SBF Visa, and “Mamba Strike”, a Top Dancer attraction from the same manufacturer. All three rides are accessible for passengers with a minimum height of 1.20 meters. Adventurers who are not at least 1.30 meters tall must be accompanied by a person older than 16. In addition, from now on park visitors can extend their stay by reserving one of six Jumanji-themed rooms designed to match the IP at the Chessington Safari Hotel.
Scott O’Neil, CEO of operating group Merlin Entertainments, said: “Whether you are a fan of the films, a fan of rollercoasters or are looking to take your family adventures to The Next Level, the amazing World of Jumanji is ready to welcome all ‘those who seek to find, a way to leave their world behind’. Years in the making by the best teams in the business and full of ‘firsts’, we can’t wait to share the adventures within World of Jumanji. And, with Chessington’s first inversion we know that we have created an experience that will turn seasoned enthusiasts – and a new generation of rollercoaster fans – upside down.” ■
