Old Masters Gallery Dresden Presents Multi-Sensory Exhibition
(eap) The Alte Meister Picture Gallery in Dresden, Germany is presenting a special exhibition dedicated to the genre of the still life through September 1, 2024. „Zeitlose Schönheit: Eine Geschichte des Stilllebens“ (“Timeless Beauty: A History of Still Life”) invites visitors to explore the world of still life and its special visual language. The exhibition comprises over 90 paintings from the Dresden gallery’s own collection in ten chapters, which are shown in the Winckelmann Forum. In a room dedicated to various floral still lifes, a rose fragrance from the company Magic Box provides a multi-sensory experience. “We use real rose essential oil for the fragrance, which, unlike the usual perfume oils, really gets to the heart of us humans,” says Elke Kies, CEO of Magic Box. In addition, the paintings on display can be viewed at from different angles in an accompanying program. For example, visitors can talk about the paintings with an entomologist, an ornithologist, a botanist and a historian. ■
