Paderborn/Germany: Largest Computer Museum of the World Introduces New Multi-Media Guide
This summer saw the introduction of a new multi-media guide at Germany’s Heinz Nixdorf MuseumsForum(HNF) in Paderborn. The multi-media guide takes visitors on a tour of one or two hours through the museum presenting them 22 highlights of the history of information technology via photos, audio and short video clips. The guide is a smartphone which fixes its position via wireless LAN. Visitors find their way by means of photos which are shown on the display of the gadget.
What is particularly new about this technology is that visitors do not have to enter numbers at the respective exhibits anymore to see the information on their guide. The technology which is required for locating the gadget was developed by Fraunhofer Institut. The implementation of the content as well as their installation on the smartphone was done by Antenna International. The multi-media guide is available in German, English and French at the HNF. (eap)
