Palace Playland Launches New Hyperjump Attraction
(eap) Palace Playland, the beachfront amusement park located in Old Orchard Beach in the US state of Maine, offers more than 28 rides and attractions on a total area of more than two hectares (five acres). The arcade games and vending machines alone occupy some 2,200 square metres (24,000 square feet) with more than 250 games. This summer, “Hyperjump”, a new attraction, was added to the park, which is especially fun for adrenaline fans.
The thrill attraction by the Italian manufacturer Preston & Barbieri is a flat ride with a central rotating motion axis with twelve individually controllable arms to all sides. Gondolas with three seats each for a total capacity of 36 passengers per ride are mounted to these arms. The speed and also the height and frequency of the “jumps” of the individual ride arms are variable – controlled by a pre-set program or individually by an operator. In addition to classic up and down movements, jumps can also occur in short or long wave patterns, for example. A hyper-jump provides riders with a special thrill. ■
