Poland: Momentum Leisure launches fourth theme park in Poland
Momentum Leisure, part of Amsterdam-based Momentum Capital, began building a theme park portfolio in Poland more than ten years ago. All theme parks in Poland operated by Momentum Leisure are part of a joint venture with Studio 100 subsidiary Plopsa and are themed around the media company's well-known characters. Majaland Kownaty (see EAP 6/2018), which opened in 2018, and Majaland Warsaw, which started operating this spring, as well as Majaland Gdansk, which is currently under development, will be complemented by a fourth theme park in Poland. This water park which will be built next to Warsaw's Majaland, bringing Momentum's total investment in Poland to 200 million euros. Both theme parks are located on the eastern ring road of Warsaw and will be part of the Góraszka project, a new investment of Nhood Poland, a new mixed-use property operator.
The signing of the land purchase from Ceetrus Properties Poland clears the way for the development of the water park. "Over the past five years we have experienced a very successful cooperation with Ceetrus Poland and Nhood Poland. So successful, that immediately after the opening of Majaland Warsaw, we reached an agreement to acquire the land for the water park. We are grateful that with our experience in realising theme parks we can be part of a unique combination of leisure, varied services and shopping. The fact that we can do this with Europe's leading retail group makes us proud," says Momentum founder Martijn van Rheenen. The theming planned for the new water park in Warsaw will be unveiled at the end of this summer. (eap)
