PortAventura Announces Opening Date for New Uncharted Dark Ride
(eap) As this season’s big novelty, the all-new “Uncharted” dark ride will soon celebrate its opening at the Spanish PortAventura Park – namely on Saturday, June 17. The ride, which is being realized by the two companies of Intamin and Sally Dark Rides in collaboration, is currently in its final construction phase in the park’s “Far West” themed area. Thematically, the attraction is based on the Sony Pictures action movie production “Uncharted” released a few months ago, which in turn is based on the video game series of the same name (c.f. EAP News of 30 Nov 2022). A recent teaser video for “Uncharted – Enigma del Penitence” (as is the attraction’s full name) has been shared by PortAventura World on its social media channels (e.g. here on YouTube).
So while guests can now look forward to the imminent opening of this exciting new attraction, the PortAventura World resort is also proud to have reached another milestone. As was recently announced, the destination has received the international “B Corp” certificate, which the organization B Lab awards to companies for a special social and environmental impact.
“Becoming a B Corp company represents a before and after in our way of acting, managing and governing. But it is also the acknowledgement of our company, a benchmark in the tourism and theme resort sector worldwide, which has always sought to have a long-term vision of what the company would be like in the coming decades. PortAventura World’s commitment to sustainable development seeks to have a positive impact on people and their environment, and becoming a B Corp company is a recognition of this work,” comments Arturo Mas-Sardá, President of PortAventura World.
Specific measures include the commissioning of the resort’s own photovoltaic plant, scheduled for June this year. It will generate around one-third of the energy required to operate the three PortAventura gates (PortAventura Park, Caribe Aquatic Park and Ferrari Land) as well as the associated hotels and MICE rooms.
