Prince Charles, McDonald’s and the Chubby Children Across the Isle

A development that has been so striking in the U.S. for many years now is now rampant in Great Britain… and definitely on its way to the continent: overweight kids! The case of the nearly 90-kilogramme, nine-year old “heavyweight” Samantha Hames has caused a stir, and not just in the yellow press… Even Prince Charles intervened (intentionally or unintentionally) in the discussion when, on the occasion of the presentation of a new health campaign in far-away Abu Dhabi, he frontally tackled the fast-food giant McDonald’s, bolding asking according to “Spiegel Online”: “Have you got anywhere with McDonald’s? Have you tried getting it banned? That’s the key (to good health).” What we think: a bit of upbringing in the area of personal responsibility in regard to nutrition and health would also be a good start. (eap)
