Relaunched Cirque du Soleil Show „Varekai“ Uses Blacktrax Technology
Launched in North America in 2002 as an international touring production, Cirque du Soleil’s (CdS) “Varekai” show returned to Montreal, Quebec in December of last year for its re-launch as an arena show. For the new format, the CdS production team uses the BlackTrax realtime tracking solution from CAST BlackTrax Ltd for moving light tracking of performers. The BlackTrax software uses a proprietary infra-red sensor and a LED beacon that is attached to a performer giving positional information for X, Y, and Z coordinates to track people and objects. The BlackTrax solution makes it possible to accurately adjust the moving lights to the movements of the performers. Moreover, this cost saving solution gives lighting designers a more creative control with lighting. (eap)
