Schwimmparadies Jena: Opening of New Sports Swimming Hall
(eap) After three years of construction, the new sports swimming pool Schwimmparadies Jena officially opens today in the Lobeda West district of Jena, Germany. The leisure pool was inaugurated last Friday with an opening ceremony including swimming relays and synchronized swimming in the new 50-meter pool, which is suitable for competitions and features eight lanes and a starting block system. The pool can also be divided into two 25-meter pools by means of a variably movable bridge with starting blocks. A teaching pool with an adjustable lifting floor and water depths from 0 to 1.80 meters completes the offer.

“With the new swimming hall, a long-cherished, great wish of many swimmers in Jena is coming true, which is great. The hall is appropriate for the sports city of Jena, because not least the swimmers organized in clubs have contributed immensely to the success of this major project. I greatly appreciate this, thank you, as well as the pool company with Susan Zetzmann and her team,” says Thomas Nitzsche (pictured here 3rd f. l.), major of the city of Jena.
Susan Zetzmann (pictured here 4th f. l.), managing director of Jenaer Bäder and building owner, adds: “This project was a true team effort, and I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to everyone involved. Our shared vision of a modern and accessible indoor swimming pool for every user group has now become a reality. I hope that this new center of encounter and sport will inspire many people to discover and promote their passion for swimming. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the construction of the swimming hall – from the idea to the decision-making to the implementation.” ■
