Spain: PortAventura World Announces First Dark Ride Attraction and New Four-Star Hotel for 2019
Yesterday, PortAventura World announced its plans to invest a total of 40 million Euros to expand both its accommodation and attractions offerings. Plans include the opening of a “Sesame Street”-themed dark ride attraction in its “SésamoAventura” theme area in 2019, which will be the park’s first attraction of this kind. Furthermore, next year will see the opening of a new four-star hotel with 150 beds in the “Far West” theme area of the park, expanding the leisure complex’ existing accommodation offer comprised by five hotels with a total of 2,100 rooms and a caravan parking. Some 15 million Euros will be invested into the new dark ride attraction, an amount of 25 million Euros will flow into the new hotel. (eap)
In 2017, PortAventura World – comprising PortAventura Park, Caribe Aquatic Park and Ferrari Land (cf. our report in EAP, 4/17) – has welcomed a total of 4.7 million visitors, which represents a growth of 19 percent compared to the 2016 attendance figures. This year, the leisure complex aims at surpassing the five million visitor mark. (eap)
