Sweden: Furuvik announces new coaster
The adventure park Furuvik, operated by Parks & Resorts Scandinavia, announces a new roller coaster for the 2023 season: "Lightning" is the name of the new launch coaster. Lightning will be built by Vekoma and accelerates up to 75 km/h in three seconds at the start. The 430-metre-long track will be ridden through twice, during which the train will experience a new boost. "After the first lap, you glide through the station where you normally get off, but instead of stopping, you are relaunched with the same acceleration to 75 km/h in three seconds! It's going to be great," enthuses Peter Osbeck, Senior Ride Manager at Parks & Resorts. And Sandra Wilke, CEO of Furuvik, adds: "Lightning is probably the biggest attraction in the history of Furuvik! It's great fun and I'm very excited to be able to open this thrilling and unique roller coaster for the whole family next year." Construction of the coaster is already well underway in the Tivoli area of the park – where the Schwarzkopf coaster “Rocket” was located until 2021. Lightning is scheduled to be presented to the public in spring 2023. (eap)
