Sweden: Kolmården’s Wildfire Is Up and Running Again
Good news from Norrköping: As of last Tuesday (20th June), Sweden, Kolmrden’s “Wildfire“ wooden rollercoaster is in operation again. The zoo and theme park had to close down the 14 million Euro coaster in the autumn of 2016 after the building permit, which the park had received from the municipality of Norrköping back in 2014, was appealed to the highest court and revoked in October 2016. The reason for this was the need for a more detailed EIA (Environmental Impact Assessment). The process to obtain such started immediately and the EIA was finally approved by the municipality of Norrköping last week. With top speeds of 113 km/h the 1.3 km long wooden rollercoaster (from Rocky Mountain Construction) is one of the fastest in Europe. (eap)
