UK: London Eye Celebrates 20th Anniversary With Special Guest Experiences
On 9 March 2000, the 135-metre-high London Eye officially opened its pods for the first time to visitors. This year, the popular attraction, which is operated by Merlin Entertainments, is celebrating ist 20th anniversary and will therefore enable people to enjoy special visitor experiences on the weekened from 6 to 9 March 2020. The tourist hot spot, which just gained the lastminute.com online travel agency as new naming sponsor (cf. EAP news of 14 Nov 2019), will then redesign 20 of its 35 pods with individual immersive experiences. Four pods will be themed as so-called “WOW“ pods, which will offer a sensed Royal Gardens experience, a West End Theater sing along show, a photo station with the Queen Elisabeth wax figure from Madame Tussauds on her throne and a classic British pub.
The remaining 16 pods will also offer a variety of special visitor experiences such as spinning and yoga classes, manicure treatments, craft beer tastings, childrens birthday parties and many more. “Over the last 20 years the London Eye has established itself as an iconic ‘must-do’ attraction for anyone visiting the city, and a world-famous part of London’s skyline. We’re thrilled to be giving everyone the chance to come and celebrate this momentous birthday milestone with us. From a West End stage to an East End pub in a pod, we’re ready to get the party started in true London Eye style,” says Sunny Jouhal, General Manager of lastminute.com London Eye.
Visitors can book their time slots online as usual, but the total revenues of the anniversary weekend will be donated to Merlin’s Magic Wand foundation, which helps disadvantaged and ill kids to enjoy Merlin’s attractions. (eap)
