USA: SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment Focuses on Sustainably Grown Food
SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment recently presented its plans to change the existing food offer in its twelve amusement and water parks to be exclusively based on sustainably grown food and meat out of species-appropriate keeping in the future.
The operator group’s new guidelines schedule that by the end of this year, all pork meat will be purchased out of appropriate keeping – by the end of 2017, there should be no more eggs out of cage-rearing on the guest’s menu. According to SeaWorld, all fish that is served in its restaurants, at events or used for animal feed originate from long-lasting fishing industry and aqua cultures. Joel Manby, President and CEO at SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment, points out SeaWorld’s responsibility: “We are committed to only offer sustainably grown food. As a company for which animal welfare and conservation are core values, we focus on food out of species-appropriate keeping on purchasing […],” said Manby. Furthermore, the SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment-related parks will offer a wider range of plant-based options for a health-conscious nutrition in the future. (eap)
