USA: Six Flags Discovery Kingdom Announces New DC Theme Area – “BATMAN: The Ride 4D” to Become Major Attraction

Northern California’s Six Flags Discovery Kingdom theme park has announced the opening of a new theme area, set to launch under the name of “DC Universe” this year. It will comprise a range of the park’s existing attractions (including “THE JOKER”, “HARLEY QUINN Crazy Coaster” & “THE PENGUIN Ride”) as well as the new “BATMAN: The Ride 4D” free fly coaster and the existing redesigned “THE FLASH: Vertical Velocity” Intamin launch coaster.

Highlight of the new theme area will be “BATMAN: The Ride 4D”, a 4D Free Spin coaster from US manufacturer S&S (read also our special on compact coaster layouts in EAP 3/17). A total of six inversions will give riders the sensation of free falling, further elements include an over 36 meter (120 feet) high vertical lift and two beyond 90-degree drops. (eap)
