USA: Universal Orlando Resort Reveals Details on New Jurassic World Coaster
Only several months after the opening of the spectacular “Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure” rollercoaster novelty in “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter” in Universal’s Islands of Adventure (cf. EAP 1/2020 & EAP News of 18 Jun 2019), the neighboring “Jurassic Park” theme area is to launch a new record-breaking coaster in summer 2021, set to enthuse rollercoaster enthusiasts and thrill-seekers.
“Jurassic World VelociCoaster” will be the name of the new high-speed attraction, which with a height of over 45 meters (150 feet) and a max. speed of more than 112 km/h (70 mph) is to become Florida’s tallest and fastest launch coaster, according to the park. The theming of the new ride, which is supplied by Intamin, will be based on the “Jurassic World” science fiction blockbuster produced by Amblin Entertainment – guests will embark on a high-speed chase and feel the rush of the hunt while racing alongside a nimble Velociraptor pack.
The over 1.4 kilometer (4,700 feet) long track will feature two launches, one of which will boost the coaster trains to the top velocity of over 112 km/h in 2.4 seconds. In addition, park guests can look forward to a 360-degree barrel roll, a zero-gravity inverted stall, a “Top Hat” with a height of over 45 meters as well as several airtime and near miss moments.
