Überseequartier Hamburg Celebrates Grand Opening
(eap) Today marks the opening of the new Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier urban development project in Hamburg’s HafenCity. On an area the size of ten soccer pitches, the new center combines shopping and entertainment under one roof. In addition to 170 stores, around 40 restaurants and cafés, three Accor hotels as well as residential and office space, the immersive art museum Port des Lumières, the new LEGO Discoverey Centre, the multiplex cinema Kinopolis Hafencity and the KIBU JUMPER Adventure World are the entertainment highlights of the quarter.

Port des Lumières, the first permanent center for immersive art in northern Germany, opens its doors to visitors as of tomorrow. Among others, they can discover the opening exhibition “Gustav Klimt, Gold and Color” on 1,700 square meters. Next door, the LEGO Discovery Center (Merlin Entertainments), Germany’s first Discovery Center of the new generation, will open soon. Covering an area of over 3,000 square meters, there will be twelve different adventure areas for young LEGO® fans to discover. Fans of the “KIBU JUMPER®” youth book series can look forward to the KIBU JUMPER Adventure World, a live-action experience designed to promote team spirit, responsiveness and cognitive skills through play. Meanwhile, movie-goers can enjoy films with Dolby Atmos technology and D-Box motion seats in the new Kinopolis Hafencity multiplex cinema.
Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier is expected to attract a total of 16.2 million visitors to HafenCity each year. The investor is the French real estate and investment company Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield, which has invested around 2.4 billion euros in the project. ■
