Wanda Group Aims to Build Europe‘s Largest Indoor Waterpark
As the Spanish newspaper El País recently reported on the web, the Chinese Dalian Wanda Group plans to build the largest indoor waterpark of Europe in Madrid’s Campamento district. Plans of China’s largest commercial real estate company call for the construction of a huge business and leisure complex with apartments, shops, office buildings and a shopping center featuring activities set up for families with children, including the indoor waterpark. According to Spanish media reports, Wanda Group has already submitted its plans/designs for the development of the 2.1 million square meters of land to the Spanish authorities.
Back in June 2014, the investment firm Renville Invest SL, a subsidiary of Wanda Group, had purchased the “Edificio España” building in Madrid, an iconic building built in the 1950s, for a total amount of 265 million euros. The 117 meter tall skyscraper was sold by Spain’s Santander bank, former owner of the building. More about China’s conglomerate Wanda Group can be read in our upcoming magazine issue, EAP 2/2015.
