World Premiere in 2024: New Disney Musical “Hercules” in Hamburg
(eap) In 2024, the new Disney musical “Hercules” will celebrate its world premiere at Hamburg’s Stage Theater Neue Flora. For the first time, a Disney musical will premiere in the northern German metropolis and not, as is usually the case, in the USA. “For 25 years, Hamburg’s knowledgeable audience has loved our musicals and has already enthusiastically received five of our Disney-on-Broadway shows. We are honored to now present our sixth title – a Disney Theatrical world premiere, making it a historic first for this dynamic market”, said Thomas Schumacher, President & Producer at Disney Theatrical Productions.
The play is based on the 1997 Walt Disney Studios animated film of the same name, in which an immortal hero embarks on a quest to find his place in the world. The storyline: Hercules, son of Zeus, is kidnapped as a baby and grows up among humans. One day he finds out that he saw the light of day on Mount Olympus and that his father is none other than the mighty Zeus. But in order to return to the mountain of the gods, Hercules must prove that he is a real hero.
Great emotions, rousing music (with new songs written especially for the stage adaptation by composers and lyricists Alan Menken and David Zippel), powerful voices as well as spectacular stage sets and elaborate costumes are promised by the musical fun for young and old, which will take guests into the fantastic mythical world of the Greek gods from March 24, 2024. ■
