Belgium: LEGO Discovery Centre Brussels to Open its Gates this Summer
As of this summer, the Belgian capital city will have an all-new family-friendly visitor attraction on offer as the new LEGO Discovery Centre, to be operated by Merlin Entertainments, will open its gates for the first time. Following the opening of such destinations in Berlin, Oberhausen, Birmingham, Manchester, Scheveningen and Istanbul, Brussels will be home to the seventh European Discovery Centre location, but the first in the world to operate under the new LEGO Discovery Centre brand name (previously: LEGOLAND Discovery Center). New play experiences will include the “LEGO Space” digital offering which invites children and their families to build their own LEGO rockets and then project them via a scanner into a digital solar system including aliens and planets. There will also be an interactive ride on the “Imagination Express” train and a play area for children under five years featuring a dinosaur carousel and slides, amongst other offerings.
Justin Platt, Chief Strategy Officer at Merlin, says: “We are delighted that our partnership with the LEGO Group continues to deliver such fantastic opportunities for our guests. By working together to design and build this next generation of the LEGO Discovery Centres, we can cater for even more families looking for the ultimate LEGO morning or afternoon of indoor activity which the whole family can enjoy together. We’re delighted to have worked closely with the LEGO Group’s strategic team to really understand how we can continue to build and strengthen the attraction’s offering for our future guests.”
“We are excited to partner with Merlin Entertainments on the development of the new LEGO Discovery Centre in Brussels which will immerse the whole family in the world of LEGO play. By creating this highly interactive indoor LEGO experience we will give families a place to play, explore, create and have fun together. Working closely with Merlin Entertainments and their expertise in the location-based entertainment sector, we hope to spark curiosity, creativity and imagination for the builders of tomorrow,” comments Julia Goldin, Chief Product and Marketing Officer at the LEGO Group.
