USA: The Park at OWA Becomes Tropical Falls at OWA

The Park at OWA amusement park, part of the leisure and entertainment destination OWA in Alabama, will undergo a major transformation and turn into “Tropical Falls at OWA“ this spring. This development, in which a sum of over 70 million US Dollars (approx. 61.2 million Euros) will be invested, not only includes the retheming of the current theme park, but also the indoor waterpark currently under construction (cp. EAP news of 10 Mar 2021), featuring a total of eleven waterslides by Canadian manufacturer ProSlide. For thrill seekers, the new offering will include the “Tangerine Scream“, a 75-feet-high (approx. 22.9 metre) free-fall slide, and the “Piranha Plunge“, a 75-feet-high (approx. 22.9 metre) super loop slide with a drop floor.

Special about the new water park will be the retractable wall and roof manufactured by OpenAire. “We are so excited to share that upon completion, Tropical Falls will be the only indoor water park in the United States with a retractable wall and retractable roof […],” said Kristin Hellmich, the Director of Marketing and Public Relations for OWA Parks & Resort. Visitors will also be able to enjoy the “Castaway Creek“ lazy river, private party rooms, private cabanas as well as new F&B offerings such as the “Grub“ quick service restaurant or the “Smuggler’s Café“.

Additionally, guests will be able to relax outside by the “Big Water Bay“ wave pool or put their feet on a surf board to hit the waves on the surf simulator. Furthermore, a stage area with a 48-feet-wide (approx. 14.6 metre) LED screen will show the latest water themed movies and host seasonally inspired live performances. The two developments of the indoor water park and the wave pool will increase direct employment by an additional over 300 positions.

The current projected opening date for the water park is May 2022. (eap)
