Norway: 25 Million Euro Investment Plan Announced for Modernization of TusenFryd
One of the new themed areas will be named Route 66.
Located about 20 minutes south of Oslo, the TusenFryd amusement park, which will celebrate its 35th anniversary next year and belongs to the Spanish operator group Parques Reunidos, has announced a multi-million investment plan for the next three years. A total of 25 million euros will be invested in the park’s renovation, including the creation of themed areas and the addition of new attractions. The goal is to transform the “New Tusenfryd” from a traditional amusement park into a theme park with clearly defined areas. This future-oriented transformation will be completed in phases over the next three years.
Already this year – in which the season at TusenFryd begins on 23 April – about 5.2 million euros (approx. 50 million Norwegian kroner) will be invested in the creation of the first new attractions. “The news we can reveal for 2022 is a new waterslide as well as opening ‘The Dungeon’ – a maze of scary experiences where actors also show up to really get the visitors’ pulse up. In addition, we are introducing two completely new theme zones,” reveals CEO Bjørn Håvard Solli.
The first new themed area will be called “Route 66” and be designed in the style of a small town along the legendary Route 66. Attractions here include a new bumper car ride and a motorcycle carousel for children, a new driving school and an expanded and upgraded “Rockburger” restaurant. The second new zone will feature the “Expedition Lost Kingdoms” area, where visitors will embark on an adventurous journey across different continents with “Wonderland” as the theme. A new rollercoaster for children will be built here and the area will include other exciting new experiences and activities. According to Solli, park operations will not be further affected by the construction works. Completion of the renewal measures is scheduled for 2024. (eap)
