“Being Dolphin 4D“: New 4D Film Production Transports Guests into the World of Dolphins
Seeing the world from the perspective of wild dolphins – such an experience is offered with the new 4D short movie “Being Dolphin 4D”, produced by Adam Ellison, which was recently premiered at The National Aquarium in Baltimore/Maryland. The 4D film attraction, created by SimEx-Iwerks Entertainment in cooperation with Talbot Films (under the direction of Bob Talbot), merges cutting-edge technology with an immersive experience that transports viewers into the world of these beloved aquatic mammals. Directly from the perspective of the animals, guests experience how dolphins are able to “see” with sound, how they engage with each other to survive and how they thrive and play in the ocean.
“Dolphins are incredibly popular and we are always looking for new ways to bring our guests stories that help them learn more about these amazing animals […],” says Mike Frueh, Senior Vice President, Licensing and Distribution, SimEx-Iwerks Entertainment.
Original footage for the film was captured with a Flex4K camera (from Vision Research), Prime Focus converted the film material into 3D quality. Canada-based Spin VFX created the additional computer generated scenes, the musical score for the film was composed by Cliff Eidelman. In order to showcase the echolocation, the film makers worked closely with visual effects designer Boyd Shermis.
“Being Dolphin 4D” will be available at zoos, aquariums, theme parks and other venues around the world. (eap)
