“Two Lake City” Interlaken, Switzerland: This is the End!

Two (still quite young) men experienced in organising and holding conventions have taken on quite a bit—too much as can now be seen. A few months ago, Peter Stähli and Stefan Linder had publicly announced their offer of reviving Erich von Däniken’s bankrupt “Mystery Park” in Interlaken under the name of “Two Lake City” (as reported in EAP 4/2008). The duo’s reputation made a hopeful impression, the presented concept was well thought out and in short, everything sounded good. Hard work was then the order of the day. But after the brief leisure industry intermezzo in late September, the two men ran out of breath, gave up, and took leave of the project in order to focus once again on their core business, convention organisation. What’s left is a tempest in a teacup, another disappointment and, at the same time, probably also another depreciation of Däniken’s former project. Too bad. Questions remain—questions surrounding the future concept for this piece of real estate set in the midst of a charming landscape. In the sports world one would say that the towel has been carelessly thrown here. There are certainly no merits to such efforts—that’s as sure as the north face of Eiger. So now only a stale swan song remains of the nicely planned “Two Lake City”: “Too Late City”! (eap)
