117-Meter Tall Attraction for Prater Vienna

Since May 2010, visitors of the Prater in Vienna can enjoy an impressive flight with the 117-meter tall Star Flyer from the Austrian company Funtime. The new “Prater Tower” will be located at the new Schweizerhausplatz. The carousel has 12 double seats with belt and lap bar. Guests will hover in heights of 95 meters and 30 meters above the ferris wheel of the Prater, within a radius of 36 meters and with speeds of 60 km/h. With a height of 117 meters, this Star Flyer is considerably higher than other attractions of its kind e.g. those at Hansa-Park, Sierksdorf or Holiday Park, Hassloch, Germany. Despite of this breathtaking height, visitors don’t need to worry – according to the operator and constructor Walter Pondorfer, the 200-ton heavy attraction is well grounded on a 720-ton heavy and two-meter deep basement with a diameter of 16 meters.
