(eap) This past Saturday, the Austrian Fantasiana amusement park (located in Strasswalchen near Salzburg) opened its new major attraction “Helios” – a roller coaster with three inversions that thematically invites guests to take a journey with the sun.

The new attraction is a “BigDipper” coaster from the German manufacturer Mack Rides, using trains from the new “Stryker” model. The ride is open to guests aged six years and over with a minimum height of 120 cm, so the family-run park is aiming to appeal to families with older children and groups of friends in particular – for the youngest visitors, a new water playground was opened last year among other novelties (c.f. EAP news from 3 April 2024).

After the contract for Helios was signed during the IAAPA Expo Europe in Vienna in autumn 2023, the planning and, with a construction period of just six months, short implementation phase followed. During the official opening on Saturday, the operating family was proud that this great achievement, both in technical terms and with regard to the theming and all other associated work, had been possible thanks to the excellent cooperation with manufacturer Mack Rides and all other companies involved, as well as the enormous effort of the park’s own employees.

Read all about the new roller coaster and the themed area “Sonnenbucht” (“Sun Bay”) in one of the next EAP magazine issues. ■
