Abu Dhabi: Construction and Targeted Opening of Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi on Yas Island Officially Announced

Following media reports that the construction of a new Warner Bros. theme park in Abu Dhabi had begun last summer (cf. EAP-news from July 27th, 2015), the Arabic company Miral Asset Management and Warner Bros. Entertainment now officially announced the construction of the theme complex including the world wide’s first Warner Bros. hotel on Abu Dhabi’s Yas Island. The whole complex is scheduled to be opened in 2018, construction is underway and rides are already in production. Situated on Yas Island and alongside Ferrari World Abu Dhabi and the mega waterpark Yas Waterworld, Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi is expected to rise the annual number of visitors from 25 million in 2015 to 30 million in 2018. This numbers point out the top position of Yas Island as home to ultimate leisure and entertainment experiences. “It is incredibly exciting to announce that we are bringing the iconic Warner Bros. brand to Yas Island. Miral’s investment in the Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi theme park is estimated at 1 billion dollars (approx. 885 million EUR) and it is a milestone in the emirate’s journey to put Abu Dhabi on the global map and become one of the world’s leading tourist destinations,” said His Excellency Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman at Miral. Kevin Tsujihara, Chairman and CEO, Warner Bros., commented that on the basis of the company’s large experience of more than 90 years in entertaining audiences, the cooperation with Miral will bring this expertise to Yas Island to create a fully-interactive, innovative and unique experience for visitors of all ages. Mohamed Abdullah Al Zaabi, CEO of Miral, estimated that the opening of the theme park and the hotel will create more than 1000 jobs for the Emirate. Miral is developing Warner Bros.
