Adventureland Resort Celebrates 50th Anniversary
(eap) Adventureland Resort in Altoona, Iowa (USA) kicks off its 50th season on May 18. The amusement park is celebrating its rich history with the return of the iconic “Underground” wooden coaster. The coaster from 1996 by Custom Coasters International has been extensively modernized. In addition to the redesign of the track and train by Philadelphia Toboggan Coasters, the ride has also been equipped with new lighting, special and sound effects as well as with new theming and scenes.

Visitors can also look forward to various gastronomic innovations. In “Oink’s” restaurant and bar, visitors can primarily enjoy various pork dishes – the restaurant building has been designed in the style of a farm. Nearby, the “Falling Star Lounge” inspired by the former “Falling Star” attraction invites guests to take a break and enjoy a drink. Also, there will be “Iowa Craft Beer Takeover” events, showcasing a variety of Iowa beers on selected weekends throughout the summer.
The park’s birthday will kick off with “Bernie’s Birthday Bash” in June featuring activities for families and children. In July, the “Festival of Decades” event series takes place, celebrating a past decade every weekend with concerts, fireworks and historical exhibitions. On the evenings in July and August, visitors can also look forward to a light show that illuminates the Boulevard.
“We wanted to create an experience that not only celebrates our rich history but also introduces exciting new adventures for our guests,” said Adventureland Resort General Manager Mike Lusky. “From the reimagined Underground ride to the all-new Festival of Decades, the pork-focused Oink’s restaurant and the Iowa Craft Beer Takeover, there’s something for everyone to enjoy as we embark on our 50th Celebration Season.“ ■
