AquaMagis Plettenberg with Redesigned Slide Tower
(eap) Germany’s AquaMagis Plettenberg is now presenting itself with a redesigned slide tower to guests. The main slide tower at AquaMagis was given a new outerspace look during the annual refurbishment phase in winter 2023. The previously rather sterile staircase was given a new coat of paint, a futuristic lighting concept with black light and coloured spots as well as large window coverings. In keeping with this, the slide tower was given the name of “Plettenberg Space Station”. The work was all carried out during the several-week closure period. A large part of the design work was done by the pool staff themselves; the painting and stickering work was carried out by Plettenberg-based company Werbung-Farbe. The company TUBERIDES, which specializes in media for pools, was responsible for designing an individual signage system and matching logos for the slides.
As part of the “AquaMagis goes Green” sustainability project, the operators decided to retrofit thermal insulation to some of the slides, whereby some of the track sections had to be replaced. The “AquaLooping” slide, which opened in 2008, was dismantled during the revision phase and replaced with a new slide with an identical course – like its predecessor from Swiss company Klarer. The new elements were given a bright pink colour scheme and insulation; modern lighting effects were also integrated. The new slide was named “Gravity Loop” to match the design of the slide tower.
The “Captain’s Canyon” raft slide will also receive an upgrade in the near future: the Magic Eye slide will be dismantled from mid-January and replaced with a thermally insulated system with new effects. Most of the course will remain the same, although the diameter of the elements will be slightly smaller. The slide will then reopen in a few weeks under the name of “Cosmic Canyon”. The record-breaking “ShootingSTAR” kamikaze slide is scheduled to launch this summer. More on this in one of our next EAP print editions. ■
