Astrid Lindgren’s World Opens “Brothers Lionheart” Setting
At a press conference last Wednesday at Astrid Lindgrens’s World, Sweden the opening of a new setting for the story of the “Brothers Lionheart” was announced for 17 June 2016. Following the “Katthult” investment in 2013 (cf. EAP, issue 5/2013), it is the second biggest investment in the history of the theme park, with a volume of 75 million SEK (around 8 million Euro). The 10,000 m² large area will actually consist of two settings – the “Wild Rose Valley” with 12 buildings and the “Cherry Tree Valley” including Knights Farm and Tulip Farm – which will have seating for 800 people each. The Brothers Lionheart area is mainly aimed at slightly older children and also serves as stage for (theatrical) performances. To ensure one setting is always open for children to play, theatre performances will alternate between Wild Rose Valley and Cherry Tree Valley. Nicholas Lindström, Project Manager and Designer at Astrid Lindgren’s World, describes the Brothers Lionheart project as “the biggest challenge so far” as the main characters of the story are in constant movement. This fact needs to be considered when realizing the new area. (eap)
