Australia: Shaun the Sheep to Find a New Home at Paradise Country
Located on Australia’s Gold Coast, Paradise Country will welcome “Shaun the Sheep“ to its attraction portfolio from the end of this year. In collaboration with operating group Village Roadshow Theme Parks, British animation studio Aardman will bring the well-known TV character to the park. Specially designed figures as well as several attractions such as “Shaun’s Tractor Ride, “Shaun’s Adventure Camp, “The Pig’s Playground and “Shaun’s Scraps & Taps“ will be part of the new themed partnership. In addition, a live show called “Shaun’s Aussi Adventures“, which will take place twice a day, and a themed retail outlet will complement the offer at the park. Visitors will also have the opportunity to meet the character and have their photo taken with him.
Shane Philipps, General Manager at Paradise Country, says that Shaun the Sheep is a wonderful fit for thee park with both parties sharing an affinity for the farm lifestyle. “Shaun the Sheep is such an iconic and well-known character with families and we are excited to welcome him and his flock to Paradise Country.“ Up until now, Sweden’s Skånes Djurpark has been the only amusement park offering a Shaun the Sheep themed area (cp. EAP news f. 17 July 2015). Yesterday, US company Sally Corporation had just announced a new partnership with Aardman to bring a new Shaun the Sheep dark ride concept to theme parks worldwide (cp. EAP news f. 12 Sept 2018).
In Australia, Shaun the Sheep and its related preschool series, “Timmy Time“ have long been mainstays on ABC TV and iView digital platforms, attracting more than 130,000 viewers daily. Next year will also see the theater release of “Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon“, launching in cinemas across Australia later in 2019. (eap)
