Australia/China: Surf Lakes International and China Waves Sports Sign Strategic Partnership Agreement
The Australian company Surf Lakes, which specialises in the development of artificial surfing facilities (see EAP 2/2021), has now entered into a strategic partnership with China Wave Sports (CWS) to further establish itself on the Chinese market. CWS will primarily support Surf Lakes in the implementation of the planned facilities in China, such as the “Surf Lakes‘ Training Centre of Excellence“. In addition, the Chinese company will oversee the supervision of major events at the Surf Lakes facilities and become the preferred operator of the surf spots.
“Having been around wave park technology since it’s infancy, the Surf Lakes multiple breaks format is the most versatile, fun and exciting yet!” says Peter Townend of CWS and adds, “We are genuinely excited about the opportunity to drive operational excellence at Surf Lakes and more generally support the growth of surfing in China.” Aaron Trevis, Founder and CEO of Surf Lakes, comments, “We know the enormity of the Chinese market and knew that we needed to install a partner in the region to ensure true scalability,” Trevis said. “We also realise the credibility value when aligning with reputable entities such as CWS. We are genuinely excited about a long and fruitful relationship.”
In the future, Surf Lakes will also realise projects in Hawaii. For this purpose, the company signed an Exclusive Territory Agreement (ETA) with Peter Savio, the new owner of Hawaii Surf Lakes LLC, which is responsible for the development of four Surf Lakes facilities in the next eight years on the Hawaiian islands.
