Austria: Eurothermen Take Stock: Markus Achleitner Leaves Company with Top Results
After almost 22 years at the helm of Austria’s Eurothermen, Markus Achleitner will step down from his position as General Manager of the OÖ Thermenholding to dedicate himself to new, political challenges as councilor in the future (cf. EAP news f. June 19th, 2018). The company group (with its three Eurothermen locations in Bad Hall, Bad Ischl and Bad Schallerbach) took the forthcoming farewell as an occasion to take stock and look at the company’s development since 1997, confirming top results for Achleitner’s term of office. The development and implementation of a master plan led to frequent investments at all three Eurothermen sites, which has constantly enhanced their attractiveness. Today, guests find a thermal bathing complex with a versatile sauna and wellness landscape, as well as a hotel and health-promoting therapy centers at each of the three locations.
Since the founding of the OÖ Thermenholding group of companies – one of Upper Austria’s largest tourism businesses today – in 2005, the total number of employees has risen by 52 percent to 850 staff members today, the number of guests has been increased from 980,000 to over 1.3 million people (or by 36 percent) and the total annual turnover has been boosted by a whopping 108 percent to around 57.5 million euros for the last fiscal year.
"During almost 22 years I have transformed the former provincial health resorts into the largest tourism enterprise in Upper Austria […]. This has only been possible together with an outstanding Eurothermen team, with reliable owners and many partners from tourism, the local community and the whole country. I leave with a deep feeling of gratitude and joy about the achieved and I am confident that the Eurothermen will continue playing their role as a trendsetter for health and wellness offerings also in the future […],” stated Achleitner. He will be succeeded by Thomas Prenneis, former General Manager of Austria’s Falkensteiner Therme & Golf Hotel, who will take over the position as head of Eurothermen effective Dec 6th this year.
Last week, Achleitner was honoured for his work and impact in the Bad Schallerbach region with the “Ring of Honour” of the municipality. (eap)
