Austria Permits Reopening of Public Pools from the End of May
After more than seven weeks of strict corona protection measures, Austria – like other European countries – has now decided on first relaxations of the regulations. As of mid-May, restaurants and hotels will be allowed to reopen, and as of May 29th, public pools can operate again. To reduce the risk of possible virus infections, social distancing rules will continue to apply, what means that the number of guests who are allowed to stay in the pool facility will be significantly reduced, amongst other measures. Also, people must take personal responsibility for adhering to hygiene and protection rules.
The Nuremberg-based European Waterpark Association (EWA) is also appealing to the governments of European states to permit a controlled reopening of pools and waterparks (cf. EAP News of 28 Apr 2020). In order to reaffirm the urgent need of support for the industry, today it has launched a petition to be sent to the German Bundestag and the German government (please click here). (eap)
