Belgium: Environmental Permit Granted for Planned Bellewaerde Aquapark
As confirmed by Compagnie des Alpes, on Thursday last week the outstanding environmental permit for the construction of the new "Bellewaerde Aquapark", which was announced in spring of this year (see EAP news of May 19th, 2017), has been granted.
The 17 million Euro indoor water park will complement the existing leisure park in Ypres/Belgium and – according to current planning – will welcome its first visitors in 2019 (c.f. EAP, issue 5/17). To obtain the building permit as well, certain conditions must be fulfilled, including the planting of new trees as a compensation measure. Topics such as parking facilities and accessibility of the site must also be clarified in advance. (eap)
