Bellewaerde to Invest 16 Million Euros in New Attractions & Experiences
Belgium’s Bellewaerde animal and amusement park located in Ypres (West Flanders) is busy preparing for the upcoming season, which begins on 1 April. The park, which belongs to the French Compagnie des Alpes operating group, will present its guests with a total of six novelties this year. Around 16 million euros will be invested in the creation of the new adventures.
In the “Indian” themed area, opposite the Amur leopard enclosure, a new family attraction called “Hampi” will provide excitement for young and old alike. This is a NebulaZ attraction from the Italian manufacturer Zamperla, which will be approved for guests over 105 centimeters tall. Another new addition to this themed area will be the “Hampi Playground”, an outdoor playground designed by the Danish company Monstrum, which will cover an area of just under 400 square meters. The design of the playground, which will be equipped with numerous climbing modules and slides, will be inspired by an Indian temple. In the “Canada” themed area, between the “Screaming Eagle” attraction and the “Yukon Jack” souvenir store, another new attraction will await visitors: “Psssht Station”, a Barnyard from Zamperla, which will be approved for children over 90 centimeters tall.
In the Bellewaerde zoo, two areas will be redesigned – the 3,800-square-meter “Savannah”, where a new footbridge will allow guests to get up close to the giraffes in the future. The giraffe enclosures and those of the zebras will also be completely demolished and replaced by a new indoor enclosure, which will be equipped with the latest technologies. In the Indian section of the zoo, a new visitor platform will in future ensure that visitors have the chance to get up close with the endangered lions and Siberian tigers.
Last but not least, the self-service restaurant located in the “Kids Park” area of the amusement park will be completely renovated and redesigned. Once completed, the restaurant will immerse guests in a medieval world and seat a total of 800 people. (eap)
