Belgium: Bellewaerde Reveals Name of New Family Coaster – “Wakala“ to Open This Spring
Belgium’s Bellewaerde amusement park just revealed the name of its new family coaster “Wakala“. Inspired by the Canadian Indians of the Kwakiutl tribe, the attraction will show a lot of decoration and patterns in the entrance area and on the trains. The new family coaster will be located in the Canadian theme zone of the park. Germany’s manufacturer Gerstlauer provided the park with a ride that is equipped with various track elements. In a curve section the tracks of “Wakala“ will cross the track of the “Dawson Duel“ duelling alpine coaster. At the end of the track the train will launch backwards after climbing a 21-metre-high halfpipe-like section.
"Bellewaerde consciously invests in this coaster because it is a family attraction and is suitable for children as from one meter height. Wakala is a perfect addition to the existing offer in the park. Bellewaerde offers its visitors a new sensation with this attraction, which both young and old can experience together," says Stefaan Lemey, director of Bellewaerde. According to the park, the new coaster will open in spring this year. (eap)
